Where’s your head at?

Sports & Performance Psychology

You’ve put in your time and effort into getting stronger; into getting faster; into getting better. You’ve spent hundreds of hours in training all because you want to be the best at your game. But there’s still something missing.

All too often, you get to game time and something isn’t right. You’re missing passes that you know you should be handling. Your shot just doesn’t work the same that it did in practice. You can’t seem to focus and your confidence is waning. You wonder, “Am I good enough to make it or am I throwing my chance away?”.

Your anxiety and stress grows. Your opinion of yourself seems to rest on the feedback of others. Worse, you’re starting to feel like you’ll never be able to get over this hump. Even though you love the sport, you find yourself wondering if you should quit. “I feel like I’ve tried everything”, you think.

But have you tried everything? Have you tried training the one part of you that’s there 100% of your time — your brain?

Most athletes neglect their mind in the process of trying to improve but if you ask a professional athlete how much of the game is mental (and for the record, I have) they’ll tell you it’s easily more than 60%. I’ve heard numbers much higher.

How do you train your mind? Through the process of mental strength coaching or sports psychology. Together we design a specific mental training plan to help you improve in the areas you think you’re lacking and to support that by also strengthening the rest. There are skills that you can apply to improve your focus, your confidence, your ability to overcome adversity, and much more.

Mental Strength Training will take the hard work you did on the rest of your training to the next level by making sure your mind is there to capitalize on your skillset. To learn more about how you might benefit from mental strength training, please give me a call or fill out the contact form.
